I loved seeing the owl and the birds.
The giraffe came quite close!
I took some cool pictures of the zebras, giraffe, owl (though you can't see him very well).
Just as we were leaving, we found a pukeko near our table, pecking up the crumbs and leftovers.

It was made from an oak door, a pair of brass hinges, an old lock and key, and a few other bits and bobs. I had to go all the way to Auckland to make it because GD lives up there. It took about 8 or 9 hours to fit it all together...

this is just the beginning of chapter one:
Will awoke shivering uncontrollably. He’d had this dream many times before but he did not know who Erador or the man at the door were, and then there was the shadow he couldn’t see that grabbed at him. But there was time to worry about that later and now it was time to get up. Wardmaster Ruben had strict rules about when to get up. Will made his bed and started to wake the others but they sleepily refused to until the wardmaster came. Then every single one of them was unceremoniously thrown out of their sleeping quarters and made to pull their beds apart and remake them, while being forced to listen to a lecture on laziness and their duties for the day.
Will sighed. Today was a new day, and at least he wasn’t on kitchen duty.

The night was dark as Will crept through the underbrush towards the hut… a sudden movement caught his eye and he quickly moved his hand to the knife fastened to his belt and pulled it free. He looked in the direction of the path showing the way towards the hut and saw a figure in a dark cloak, leading a horse along it. The figure cautiously knocked on the door.
“Who is it?” a voice whispered.
“Erador,” he responded quietly.
The door opened.
“Do you have news?” a man at the door said.
“Yes I do…but you must have known that when I came knocking on your door in the middle of the night,” replied Erador and he casually looked around in the direction of the cluster of bushes in which Will was crouching and Will ducked as Erador’s eyes looked closely at the spot where Will had just moved from and then his attention turned back to his friend and they launched in to a conversation.
Will strained to hear what they where saying from where he was hiding in the clump of bushes, but the two men were now speaking in a language he could not understand. It was as if they knew he was there and they were choosing to explain as little as possible, but that couldn’t be right. The men walked inside and the door closed. Will cautiously slid the knife back in to the pouch at his belt, he really needed to be more careful because he had nearly been spotted. He started to move towards the hut slowly and then a feeling made him stop, he heard a noise and froze then moved back to his original position but not fast enough. A hand snaked towards him then grabbed his collar and lifted him off his feet...

I had this extreme burst of joy when I was driving it, kind of like the joy teenagers feel when they've bought a car and they're allowed to have a small joy-ride.
The captain showed me a little dial, which when I turned the wheel, it moved. He showed me a floating compass which was in a bubble of plastic, and was immersed in water.
I'm going camping tonight, and I'm happy.
